Concerned Parents of Teenage Drug Abusers

Filed under: Uncategorized — Admin @ 7:34 pm

Welcome. If only I could welcome you on happier terms I would. However, there is hope. You have found this page. The next step is to become educated on Teenage Drug Use. This site began as a focus on the abuse of Dextromethorphan, the common ingredient in cold medicines, with the intent to educate those that do abuse Over the Counter Medicine.

When a handful of people started this site, we wanted to differentiate ourselves from the media’s tactic of scaring kids away from using drugs. Decades of research shows this tactic only works to prohibit drug use for a short time until kids truly learn about drugs first hand through experience. Though life experiences are great, experimenting with drugs can sometimes be fatal or very harmful from a trial and error standpoint. The idea behind the fourth plateau was to create a destination for people to get answers to questions about drugs before diving head first into treacherous waters.

The majority of the people that make this site a responsibility are fully aware of the danger of drugs as well as aware of the fact that drug use and drug abuse is a personal choice. If a person, whether a teenager or an adult, decides to use, try, or experiment with drugs, the desire lies wholly in that person. Many harm reduction websites have learned first hand that trying to sway people away from drug use once they have committed to it is not effective. If a person comes to this site, or any other site already with the desire to use drugs, trying to influence them out of their decision most often results in that person looking elsewhere for the answers they want to hear.

Where does that leave the founders of this site?

I would have to say that the majority of us are a very understanding group. How? Many of the people that use this site combat addiction and addictive tendencies as an every day battle. Some of us are recovered addicts, and some of us are still trying to recover from drug use.

“Why would I take advice from a bunch of drug addicts?”

Why wouldn’t you? Our knowledge of drug use and the dangers therein come from first hand experience. Many of us have traveled down the dark path of despair that started off as a fun past time or hobby. As we have all been told, drugs are always fun in the beginning, but they become a horrible problem once they are not fun anymore.

“What can I get out of this site? Can this site really help me? Can I find the answers to what I am looking for?”

We think so. This site was started years ago by a group of individuals belonging to an abandoned harm reduction website. The site was generally started as a site to educate teens about the risks associated with abusing Cough Medicine. The founders of that site lost interest and no longer offered guidance to the whordes of teens who sought out information about getting high off of cold medicines. We came here, developed a forum where people could talk openly about their drug use, abuse, and addiction woes without fear or criticism.

“How can this help me? How can talking about drug use be effective? I’m a concerned parent, not a drug abuser. What am I being offered as an adult concerned about my child?”

Originally, this site was started for those out there in the middle of drug abuse already, or those who had made up their mind to abuse cough medicine or other drugs. Recentley, we have decided it would be beneficial to offer a section for parents. In this site, you can access forums where you may post questions about drug abuse. As stated before, we specialize in the knowledge of Over The Counter Drug abuse, but many are knowledgeable on a wide array of drug abuse issues. There are testimonials on this site that provided by DXM users that you may read and speak about with your child. You can even chat with drug users through this site. How novel is that?

“How Do I get Started?”

Look at the links on the right side of the page. Here you will find links to various pages such as DXM Abuse, Over the counter drug abuse, Signs and Symptoms of DXM abuse and many other pages. You can read and comment on these pages as well as create your own testimonial about a personal experience with drug abuse  or addiction, of share you story about your own family’s struggles with abuse and addiction.  You can also post comments that are relevant to other people’s submissions.

Aside from information offered directly by users and staff of this website, we are also affiliated with a large provider of books on the subjects. Feel free to visit our sponsored ads to view more information about resources available at your disposal. By purchasing material, such as e-books, thru our sponsored afiliates, you are helping us keep this site up and running because we get a portion of the proceeds from any purchase through a sponsored ad.
